Based on the home owners' vision for their Seward Park home renovation design and expansion, we focused on renovating the home's kitchen, creating an enclosed sun room, and increasing the size of the exterior concrete patio.
In the kitchen we maintained much of the original layout, while completely updating the space with beautiful new cabinetry, appliances, and Cambria quartz stone countertops. Larger satin chrome pulls were selected for ease of use and to complement the stainless steel appliances. Porcelain tile floors laid in a running bond pattern complement the countertops and are a durable surface that will look beautiful for years.
In the sun room we enclosed the space with stained fir French doors to take advantage of the lovely garden views and provide a relaxing space for tea or beer year round. The warm color of the doors works beautifully with the existing stained ceiling. For heat, an electric heat mat was installed underneath the grey porcelain tile floor.
Outside the sun room we added a new concrete path, patio and water service to provide access and water to back yard and garden.
"We were fortunate to work with Arlene, of AKJ Architects, on our kitchen remodel and sunroom addition last spring. Although our project was relatively small, Arlene responded with enthusiasm and energy. She is fun to work with, knowledgeable, and detail oriented. Arlene's recommendations and input helped get our project off to a good start. Her guidance in practical and creative issues was helpful. It was wonderful to have Arlene on our team. We are delighted with our project and would recommend AKJ Architects to friends and family."
